i must say going to KANAOKA HIGH SCHOOL felt the same as my first day in school ever!
it was scary but knowing how sociable i am.. i was excited to gain new friends too! :))
after our arrival in Kanaoka, we met with the school officials and had our lunch with our buddies!
Meet my buddy: MIKA INOUE, 17 years old, and their school's volleyball captain..
waaah! great thing she was very conservative and down-to-earth!
we ate lunch with our buddies and reality struck on us that we were there to study. So we took some classes which by the way, for me, included P.E., meaning I got to play basketball, and thank God it was not that bad.. haha! Not long after we were dismissed at 4:00pm and i got to meet my foster mother and foster brother. I was lucky enough that mika was not only my buddy but also she is part of my host family too! whew! that was a relief knowing that I have someone to bond with! mika's family includes Ayaka, her elder sister, Takao, her younger brother and her parents, Jyunko (mother) and Ryuji (father). Ayaka is in Tokyo for college and Ryuji was a policeman, both of them aren't staying at home.
FUNNY STORY: Before leaving for Japan I really thought I wouldn't miss my family because I would only be away for a week. Fast Forward. I was there in my room depressed because I couldn't talk to anyone. They made me sleep at 9pm when I couldn't! I can't use my phone because it had roaming problems so to make me sleep I read ALICE IN THE WONDERLAND which was the only english book lying around. I really wanted to go home that night or ending my life for that matter because I couldn't speak to anyone!!! The next day when I was a bit okay the others shared with me how depressed they were that night too! =)) And I thought I was over reacting! LESSON: value your family
