The TV was already on the moment I woke up, my parents seating comfortably and my mom sobbing indefinitely. Just like everybody else we watched the TV coverage of Pres. Cory Aquino’s funeral. My mom explained how she used to participate in the rallies before; suddenly being in the living room was like taking a Social Science class.

A moment like this has made us all feel united. Proud even, that someone like Cory Aquino is a Filipino. Once upon a time the world looked up to us for the People Power, the first bloodless revolution. Today is a day full of love for Pres. Cory and the Philippines.

Out of the blue my mom asked rhetorically, “What happens next after today?” I understood where she was coming from. The Former President’s ideals and vision for the country are the only things I hope will continue to be promoted by the next crop of leaders. “What people don’t realize is that it’s everyday that we can fight corruption,” my mom said with a big sigh.

Haaaay. I’m so not the only one who has a love-hate relationship with this country. =))))
