MOVIE REVIEW: Caregiver

It’s that time again when I bombard my blog with post after post after post… you get the drift! Well, how can’t I? I have left my blog in drought for weeks now. Moving on…

Prior to today’s Indiana Jones spectacle, we watched Caregiver last Sunday as this was the movie almost required to be seen by all Filipino families. Yes, I was with the whole gang. What did you think, I was watching this alone!? (As if.) My brother was excluded though as he professed his distaste over Filipino films. I have to agree for SOME films but I’d like to think he missed out BIG TIME on this one.

The movie is very emotional, sentimental, dramatic and sensitive as it was intended to be for an easier acquisition of the Filipino audience’s immediate approval. (What’s new?) However, if there is something that this movie is all about that is it’s TRUE, REALISTIC, EYE-OPENING, THOUGHT PROVOKING, and HONEST. Maybe those are a couple of things to be said.

I felt depressed for those who are in this profession but there is also that newfound respect that you can’t help to develop for them as you watch this film. No one would want to be in this job it’s just that it is necessary and there is no other choice. You automatically realize that the country you live in is considered to be in the third-world, poor and developing. You become aware that life isn’t as easy as it seems and you need to work, by all means, to survive.
